What started as a handful of compassionate volunteers distributing meals on the streets of Kuala Lumpur has grown into a nationwide movement transforming lives across Malaysia.

Our Journey

A Decade and a Half of Impact

Officially registered as a non-profit in 2008, KSK was built on a compassionate philosophy that no one should suffer from hunger, regardless of background, belief, or gender.

2008

Kechara Soup Kitchen officially established, serving meals to homeless individuals in Kuala Lumpur

2009

Created homeless client database to better understand and serve individual needs

2010

First medical outreach program launched, providing basic healthcare to street communities

2011

Expanded operations to Penang and Johor Bahru

2012

Food Bank program established; received Malaysian NGO Award

2014

Awarded Iskandar Malaysia Social Heroes Award

2016

Launched #zerofoodwastage initiative with Tengku Zatashah; appointed partner by Ministry of Federal Territories; joined Association of Asia Foodbanks

2017

Began nationwide surplus food collection with TESCO Malaysia; launched Empowerment Sewing program

2018

Expanded surplus food partnerships to AEON; received World CSR Leadership Award; hosted Malaysia's first food bank symposium

2019

Appointed Strategic Partner of Food Bank Malaysia

Launched Empowerment Baking program during COVID-19 pandemic
