Food Security
for the Underprivileged Community

Food insecurity and food waste shouldn't coexist. We partner with businesses across Malaysia to access quality surplus provisions—then deliver them to registered families in need.

Sustained Support

Our Impact

In 2012, we established the Food Bank to shift from reactive assistance to proactive stability. Rather than waiting for families to become homeless, we intervene earlier by providing consistent food support that helps them weather financial storms.

Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does the Kechara Food Bank programme work?

We operate a dual system: distributing donated dry provisions worth RM250 to registered families every two months, and rescuing surplus food from hotels, markets, farms, and manufacturers for immediate distribution to families and charity homes. This addresses both long-term food security and reduces environmental waste.

  • What items are included in dry provision packages?

Each RM250 food package contains essentials designed to last two months: rice, cooking oil, proteins (canned fish, lentils), infant formula, biscuits, and other basic necessities. Contents vary based on available donations and are tailored to meet nutritional and cultural needs.

  • Who can receive support from the Kechara Food Bank?

We serve low-income families, single parents, elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, Orang Asli communities, and registered charity organisations across Malaysia. Families facing food insecurity can register with us for regular provision deliveries.

  • How can my company donate surplus food to KSK?

Absolutely. We offer comprehensive support including medical assistance, welfare aid applications, job placement, shelter coordination, identity card replacement, dental and optical care, mental health support, and family reunification services.

  • Does KSK follow food safety standards?

Yes, we are trained in food safety protocols by the Global Foodbanking Network. All surplus food is inspected for quality and safety before distribution. We maintain proper storage facilities and cold chain logistics to ensure beneficiaries receive safe, nutritious food.

  • How can my charity organisation apply for food assistance?

Registered charity organisations serving vulnerable populations can apply through our charity partner application form. We assess eligibility based on your organisation's registration status, community served, and capacity needs.
