Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What's the minimum age to volunteer?

For street activities, volunteers must be 18 years old. For food bank warehouse duties, the minimum age is 12 years old (children must be accompanied by adults).

  • Do I need to commit to regular volunteering?

No! While we love regular volunteers, there's no commitment required. You can join as often or as rarely as your schedule allows.

  • Do I need my own transportation?

If you're joining us for multi-location distributions or outreach work, having your own vehicle helps us serve more communities efficiently. We understand this isn't possible for everyone, which is why we also offer alternatives like interviews, data work, or in-office support that don't require transport. Let us know what works for you, and we'll find the right fit.

  • Can I volunteer as a group?

Absolutely! We welcome corporate teams, student groups, families, and friend groups. Maximum 20 people per group. Please give us advance notice to coordinate.

  • Can pregnant women volunteer?

We don't recommend it due to the physical nature of some activities and outdoor conditions.

  • Can I volunteer as a student?

Yes, students are always welcome! However, we understand transport is often a challenge, so we've created an alternative pathway.

If you'd like to interview our staff or beneficiaries for your academic work, we ask that you contribute to KSK in one of these ways: purchase handmade cookies from our Empowerment programme (which directly funds single mothers' income), or make a monetary donation. This contribution sustains our work whilst enabling us to support your research. In exchange, you'll gain valuable insights from real stories, and your work helps amplify our mission.

To get started, fill out our interview request form and let us know what you're working on.
