Kechara Soup Kitchen

“GIVE, even if you only have a little..” [Dhammapada 224]

There will always be a reason why you can’t do it, but there are many more reasons for an act of simple kindness can be rendered from you, your heart.

I was blessed to have a mentor a long way back when I was in my early 20s, who has taught me day in day out about being compassion towards everyone around me, having more patience and always try to be in their shoes to understand and reflect before I speak or act. Humbly and grounded, I have been carrying these teaching with me for as long as I can remember, until to date. It has shaped me to who I am today, as a part of the society, as a leader on how I am leading a team with compassion, and most importantly be patience and be accountable of every of my action, good or bad.

When I crosses path with Kechara Soup Kitchen back in early 2022, I am blessed again to learn the next chapter of doing charitable work – this organization has taught me that it is not just about the act of giving, but it is also about offering hope, human connection and kindness to individuals who are often overlooked by society. The culture within Kechara Soup Kitchen encourages us to serve with humility, professionalism, and compassion. Over time, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of social challenges such as homelessness, poverty, and food insecurity as well as the importance of community-led support.

It has been a very soul enriching years working alongside this organization where our purpose of ‘giving’ is aligned, whether I was involved in the bigger projects or the weekly volunteering activities, or even just rallying volunteers’ participation from my circle of colleagues and friends.

I am honored to have served with Kechara Soup Kitchen, and I look forward to continuing this journey and will carry the lessons of this experience with me in my life and work. It is a reminder that humanity is not measured by what we have, but by what we are willing to give.
