Overview

Many people experiencing poverty or homelessness know about KSK hubs and will come to us for food. Static distribution ensures we’re available and ready to serve anyone who walks through our doors. It’s also safer and more efficient for certain populations, like elderly folks who have limited mobility or families with young children who prefer coming to a fixed location rather than waiting on street corners.

Static distributions often happen during specific hours (like lunch or dinner time), creating a reliable routine that people can count on. If you’re hungry and you know KSK opens at 6 PM every Tuesday, you can plan around that. Consistency matters when you’re living on the edge of survival.

What You’ll Do

You’ll staff the distribution point at one of our hubs. As people arrive, you’ll verify their registration (checking their KSK ID cards), hand them pre-packed meal sets, have brief friendly conversations, and ensure everything runs smoothly. You might also help set up the distribution area before people arrive and clean up afterward.

Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can pregnant women volunteer?

We don't recommend it due to the physical nature of some activities and outdoor conditions.

  • Can I volunteer as a student?

Yes, students are always welcome! However, we understand transport is often a challenge, so we've created an alternative pathway.

If you'd like to interview our staff or beneficiaries for your academic work, we ask that you contribute to KSK in one of these ways: purchase handmade cookies from our Empowerment programme (which directly funds single mothers' income), or make a monetary donation. This contribution sustains our work whilst enabling us to support your research. In exchange, you'll gain valuable insights from real stories, and your work helps amplify our mission.

To get started, fill out our interview request form and let us know what you're working on.

  • What happens after you applied for volunteering?

Our operations team will contact you within one business day to arrange availability. If the volunteer slot is unavailable, we’ll suggest alternative activities.

  • What happens after slot confirmation?

We'll set up a WhatsApp group so your team stays connected with us. Invite whoever needs to be in the loop. Everyone will fill out a quick onboarding form and share their car plate number if they'll be driving on the volunteering day.

  • Where is the distribution point?

The distribution is held at a fixed location in George Town. Exact address is shared after registration.

  • Is this activity available every weekday?

Sessions run on selected weekdays. Check the schedule shared upon registration for confirmed dates.
